DIY Craze

Like many others, I too have been affected greatly by the state of our economy. Even little things like getting my nails done, or going to the movies every weekend seem like luxuries that I used to take so much for granted. Anyway, enough of the whining. My life isn't that bad, so I really shouldn't complain. My point is, I have had to cut back on things. I've been doing my own nails, and not just flat boring solid colors. I've been attempting to do patterns and playing with glitter, which you can see in my previous posts. I can't say it's something that I had to get used to, because I like to take up any opportunity to be crafty and creative. For example, I never buy cards. Birthday cards, holiday cards, thank you cards, etc... I ALWAYS make them myself. It's something I've enjoyed doing since I was a kid. But now it has expanded to greater ventures and realizing that I don't have to spend a fortune. So now, on to the real purpose of this post.

DIY. I love the whole DIY concept. It's crazy all the cool things you can create on your own. I came across this post on honestlywtf on the DIY Braided Hex Nut Bracelet. I'm kind of obsessed. Although it seems a little too technical for me, I must attempt it. I mean, I can't even grasp the concept of knitting, which I find to be quite pathetic of me. But the bracelet is really cute, and I would definitely feel a sense of accomplishment if I could conquer it. And it sure beats paying $185 for the original by Giles & Brother. How can I resist?

Nails - Confetti

I tested out some color combinations. I went with the far left. It's actually purple, but it didn't photograph that way.

I Love Bianca Jagger Because...

1. She totally rocks mens clothes like no one else.

2. She looked just as amazing in a glamorous gown.

3. She rode a horse into studio 54.

4. She owned that one shoulder dress look.

5. She stands out even while sitting with Liza Minnelli and Michael Jackson.

6. She doesn't look stupid with a turban on her head.

7. She served as muse to Halston.

8. She was totally ahead of her time.

9. She did not stand in her husband's shadow.

10. No matter what she wore, she always dressed like Bianca Jagger.

11. She's a human rights activist.

12. Approaching 70, and she still looks amazing

In Awe of Nature's Wonders

I recently stumbled upon this blog called the vamoose. It's great! I totally recommend checking it out. Anyhow, there is this amazing post on these incredible images from nature. It almost seems too bizarre and dreamlike to be real. But the fact that it is real, makes the world so mysterious and wonderful. Even though there is a description provided below each photo to explain the answer behind the mystery, it doesn't take the beauty away from it.

I'm totally inspired by all the colors, and I'm looking for ways to incorporate the neutrals with the blues into my wardrobe.

Nails - Leopard Print

I'm young, so I might as well have fun and take some risks with when it comes to fashion. I like to try new things, so when I stumbled upon fashion blogger, Peony Lim's entry on leopard nails, I had to give it a try. It's easy, simple, you can use any colors you'd like. Be creative. It isn't supposed to be perfect, so have fun with it!

Recap: Old Hollywood

On Friday, February 11, the boys at church put together a lovely evening to appreciate the girls in the ministry. It was a very sweet and well put together event. The theme was red carpet, and I couldn't resist. this vintage dress has been sitting in my closet for years, and I finally had the opportunity to wear it again.

I know she has a very distinct look attached to her, but this one that I’m posting is so not what you would expect. I love it!

~

So… I’m currently working on a paper. The topic is Fashion Icons, and I chose Bianca Jagger. It was no easy process, as I am arguably the most indecisive person on the planet. But finally, by the power of the gods (figure of speech, I believe in one God), I was able to make my decision.

I first narrowed down a very long list to a handful of potential candidates: Brigitte Bardot, Marianne Faithful, Patti Smith, and Lauren Hutton. Ones that didn’t quite make the cut were Jane Birkin, Jean Seberg, Francoise Hardy, Mia Farrow, Ali MacGraw, and a few more… I’m blanking. It shouldn’t be so difficult to remember people’s style that I admire, but my memory is fading with age.

Anyway, after doing a lot of research I am confident and satisfied with my choice. I have kind of become obsessed with her. She is honestly an amazing woman with amazing style.

Today's women of great style, such as Kate Moss and Alexa Chung to name a few, are totally emulating Bianca Jagger. It's crazy that I never realized it before.

Just had to share :)
